How running changed me

I wouldn’t say I’m a “good runner.”

After three years of lacing up almost every day, I’m still pretty average by every standard metric — pace, distance, race times. None of that stands out.

But what has changed is my life.

Three years ago, I started running as a way to reset — physically and mentally. Since then, I’ve run the same route in every kind of weather, through changing seasons and changing chapters of my life. Along the way, I became a Dad. I built a healthier lifestyle. My mood and energy transformed.

And somewhere in those miles… Fluxx Films mark 2 was built!

Running gives me something that no desk, no book, no course can:

Mental clarity — space for ideas to breathe

Resilience — learning to keep going when it gets hard

Consistency — showing up every day, regardless of mood

Better energy — so I’m sharp and focused with clients

Perspective — problems shrink when you move through them

Some of my best creative solutions have arrived mid-run — when the noise stops and the pieces click into place. The discipline I practice on the pavement becomes discipline in my work.

When I look at the projects Fluxx Films has delivered, the growth we’ve seen — the confidence to pursue bigger stories, the stamina to shoot long days, the positivity I bring to sets — it’s no coincidence.

Running is the foundation that keeps everything else upright.

Being My Best for My Clients

What I’ve realised is this:

If I look after my body and mind, I show up as the best version of myself for the people who trust me with their stories.

That means directors get focus.

Businesses get creativity.

Nonprofits get heart.

Everyone gets energy and enthusiasm.

Running isn’t a hobby on the side of filmmaking.

It fuels the filmmaking.

What’s Next?

I hope that three years from now, I’m still out here running — still chasing the next mile, the next idea, the next great project.

Because anyone can be good at something they’re naturally great at.

The real magic comes from what you build step by step — even when you’re just “okay” at it.

And_fluxx films keeps moving forward.
